Unemployment Insurance Flexibilities
The Employment and Training Administration announced new guidance outlining state flexibilities in administering their unemployment insurance programs to assist Americans affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Under the guidance, federal law permits significant flexibility for states to amend their laws to provide unemployment insurance benefits in multiple scenarios related to COVID-19.
Governor’s Executive Orders
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has issued an executive order that prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the order does not apply to retail shopping. Click here to read the executive order.

FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT
The DOL has published guidance to provide information to employees and employers about how each will be able to take advantage of the protections and relief offered by the FFCRA when it goes into effect on April 1, 2020. The guidance includes Questions and Answers addressing critical issues such the scope of the small business exemption Fact Sheet for Employees, a Fact Sheet for Employers, and two new required posters—one for federal workers and one for all other employees, as well as Questions and Answers about posting requirements, and Field Assistance Bulletin describing WHD’s 30-day non-enforcement policy.
SBA Disaster Assistance in Response to the Coronavirus
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). CDC: Resources for Businesses and Employers
The CDC has issued Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers on issues ranging from cleaning and disinfection guidance, best practices for social distancing, and strategies and recommendations that can be implemented now to respond to COVID-19. Click here for more information.
